One local boat expert is offering an illustration of what happens to an anchor that’s not pulled up when a boat starts moving.

Butch Wileman is the Service Supervisor at Freshwater Marine Sales and Service.

He tells KRMS News it’s best to tie the anchor to the bow of the boat and always remember to pull it in when you’re ready to start moving.

55-year-old Craig Gathmann of Illinois was killed this week when he was hit by the anchor on his boat after he and a passenger started moving without pulling it up.
