With an average high temperature here in the Lake Area nine degrees above normal for May, for many, it felt like spring was cut short. It was the hottest May ever recorded in Missouri. But will the above-average heat continue as we begin summer? Not likely according to Ray Miller in the Weather-Eye-Weather-Center, who says current trends are showing fairly normal weather expected over the next 90 days.
A chance for some showers and thunderstorms for the rest of the week should keep temperatures down a bit with highs back up to around 90 by Sunday. The official first day of summer is this Thursday
