It could’ve been worse for two unidentified females who found themselves disoriented and lost in the woods after abandoning an outing along the NianguaRiver. Mid-County Fire Chief Scott Frandsen says search personnel were summoned to an area off Goldie Bend Road and, upon arrival, met up with a friend of the two females who had had contact with them via cellphone. The two were kayaking along the river when it got dark. They exited the river and attempted to walk to a road when they became lost. Their position was pinpointed on a cell phone map leading Mid-County personnel to them in a matter of only 15 minutes. The two and their dog were transported back to the vehicle they had come in. There were no injuries.
