A Mexico, Missouri man accused of causing the death of a Highway Patrol trooper has waived a preliminary hearing that was scheduled for Friday (15). The move comes after the attorney for 20 year old Serghei Comerzan withdrew from the case earlier in the week. Comerzan is charged with 2nd degree murder and resisting arrest in connection with the death of Trooper James Bava who was trying to pull over a motorcycle allegedly driven by Comerzan at a high rate of speed in Audrain County. Trooper Bava had been stationed at the Highway Patrol’s Troop “F” which serves several mid-Missouri counties including the Tri-County Area. Comerzan remains in jail on a $250,000 dollar cash only bond. He is scheduled to be arraigned on January 22nd.
