The thirty-two year old who shot and killed a Linn Creek man last week has officially been charged. Dustin Burkhart was charged yesterday evening with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, a Class C Felony. Burkhart is a convicted felon, which means it is a federal offense for him to possess a firearm. The incident began according to authorities, when 33 year old Joseph Beeman of Linn Creek went to Burkhart’s home around 3 a.m. Wednesday. He then pulled a gun and demanded an unnamed female leave with him. When she refused, Burkhart retrieved his own firearm and demanded Beeman leave. Beeman then shot at Burkhart, who returned fire, at least two of the shot hitting Beeman. While he is being held without bond for a probation violation, his bond for the unlawful possession charge has been set at $15,000.
