A Richland man is taken to a trauma center after he is thrown from his vehicle and run over by a distracted driver. Sunday morning at about 1:45, 39-year old Dennis Martin was driving his 1989 Ford F-150 north on Missouri 7, south of Richland. The truck went off the right side of the road and hit a ditch. The F-150 overturned, ejecting martin, who was not wearing a seat belt, into the roadway. Moments later, 61 year old Thomas Swearingin of Richland came upon the scene and was distracted by the vehicle in the ditch. Swearingin’s 2002 Mercury Sable hit Martin, who was still in the roadway. Martin was taken by ambulance to a helicopter pad in St. Robert and then flown to the trauma center at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.
