A man who pleaded guilty to a domestic assault involving a Fort Leonard Wood Solider is heading to federal prison.

A judge sentenced 33-year-old Kevin Bonner to nearly six years without parole for his role in the dispute.

Investigators say Bonner was the domestic partner of a female soldier and they shared a home together, where he was accused of strangling and assaulting her last year.

During his court case, Bonner admitted that he choked the woman to the point of unconsciousness sometime in July 2020.

Federal court documents also indicated that Bonner and the woman were in their bedroom when Bonner held her against the wall and punched her in the face multiple times, causing several orbital fractures, bruises and scratch marks.

Court documents also show that Bonner was already on parole for abusing his legal wife, a different woman, and fraudulently marrying the woman solider as well.
