Questions have been circulating around the Lake of the Ozarks about mandatory sewer line hook-ups. According to District Board Chairman Dave Taylor, the District currently has an ordinance that states there is a mandatory hook up for occupied properties within 150 feet of the district sewer line. Taylor says it does not matter if you own a large amount of property or how far you are from the lake. All new connections are required to pay a $1000 hook-up fee, plus the cost for a grinder and pump, equal to approximately $2500. When questions about the rumors that DNR said there is no mandatory hook-up for those whose property are not within 100 feet of the lake, or for those with more than three acres of property, Taylor said he is unaware of that DNR policy.
