The number of marijuana arrests has dropped in the Lake area compared to last year and that might not necessarily be a good thing. In Camden County, the Highway Patrol reported 143 marijuana possession arrests last year and, so far, there have been 45 this year. Sheriff Dwight Franklin says, in his opinion, the reason is because harder drugs are on the rise.
In 2014, there were over 10,000 deaths caused by heroin overdose in the US and almost 20,000 deaths caused by painkiller overdoses. Both are five times higher than they were in 2001.
