The Missouri Senate has a new president pro tem for the 96th General Assembly after an endorsement yesterday from Republican leaders.
Senator Rob Mayer of Dexter has been endorsed for the seat and will take the seat if elected by the full senate when they convene. Senator Mayer will replace outgoing President Pro Tem Charlie Shields of St. Joseph who has been term limited. Mayer previously served as the chairman of the Missouri Senate Appropriations Committee.
Looking at other leadership position endorsements from yesterday, Senator Tom Dempsey of St. Charles has been elected as majority floor leader, Senator Jack Goodman of Mount Vernon has been re-elected assistant majority floor leader, Senator elect Mike Parson of Bolivar has been elected as majority caucus whip, Senator Bill Stouffer of Napton is re-elected as caucus chair, and Senator Eric Schmitt of Glendale was elected caucus secretary.
