A Missouri Senator is speaking out about a looming trade war that could adversely affect Missouri products. Senator Claire McCaskill is urging the President to scale back the escalating dispute with China. Chinese tariffs on $50 billion of American soybeans, pork, beef, aircracft, trucks, and other goods were recently announced in response to tariffs placed on imports by President Trump. McCaskill says the state’s ag producers and manufacturers need stable, consistent leadership when it comes to negotiating deals and that the tariffs slam some of the state’s most critical economic engines. Missouri is the sixth largest soybean producer in the country and the seventh largest pork producing state.
