Only a handful of locally contested races and issues appear on the ballots this week here in the Lake Area. Among them, is what amounts to a “levy swap” for patrons in the Mid-County Fire District to decide on. Chief Scott Frandsen says the district is asking voters to approve a 25-cent tax which, simply, replaces a 25-cent debt service levy set to retire at the end of this year.
If approved, the levy goes in effect at the end of next year in time for the fire district’s 2018 budget year. The issue is to be decided during tomorrow’s General Election.
