The committee meeting held Wednesday regarding the merger of the Water Patrol with the Highway Patrol opened up some thoughts on how officers really view the merger. The newly formed Committee made up of our local Lake representatives Diane Franklin, Rocky Miller and David Wood, asked questions to current Water Division officers and former Water Patrol officers about the merger and training present officers receive. What was discovered was shocking. According to Sergeant Randy Henry, there are less Water Division agents on the Lake of the Ozarks than before the merger. Henry said that the full time officers receive extensive training; however, the supplemental officers who “fill in” during the busy times for the Water Division do not. Another public hearing on the case will occur at the Osage Beach City Hall on October 14th at 11am.
