In a standing room only crowd of concerned citizens, the mid county fire protection district board approved waiting 30-days before proceeding with the decommissioning of their three district fire stations; station no. 3, located on state road AA, station no. 5 on old south highway 5, and station no. 6 on state road d. In December, the board had approved closing the stations due to budget constraints and a failed 12-cent levy increase. If closed, persons who live within five miles from the stations will pay up to two times higher insurance premiums due to higher ISO ratings. Also during the meeting, constituents suggested merging MCFPD and the city of Camdenton fire departments and sharing assets, tax revenues and firefighters. The fire chiefs were interested in talking about a merge but the city officials have yet to come on board. Finishing off the meeting the board accepted the resignation of deputy chief/fire marshal Chris Bachmann.
