The Mid County Fire Protection District continues to prepare for the upcoming election in April. After failing to get a tax levy increase approved last November, the district will be asking voters to again approve a 12 cent levy increase on April 8th. According to district officials, the 12 cent increase would go toward maintaining the current level of service the district provides. Following the district’s recent board meeting it was announced that any proposed budget cuts or station closures would be tabled until may first. A citizen’s community meeting is also scheduled for this Thursday February 20th, at which time ideas will be discussed about the most effective ways to get the word out about the levy issue. Thursday’s meeting begins at 5:30 pm at station one in Camdenton.
