October was a little slower this year for at least one area fire protection district. Mid-County Chief Scott Frandsen says they responded to 146 incidents last month, down from 171 last October. They averaged over 4 ½ calls per day. That total included 10 vehicle accidents, four structure fires, and 91 medical emergencies. So far this year the district has handled 1,742 incidents, which is nine fewer than they had responded to at this same time last year.
