Mid-County Fire Protection District is reporting a busier-than usual September. When the final call tally was calculated, Chief Scott Frandsen says the department responded to more than double the number of calls from last September. In all, they handled 159 incidents, compared to just 71 last year. Medical emergencies constituted the majority of their runs with 82. They also handled a variety of fire calls, including four structure fires, three vehicle fires, three brush fires, a boat fire, and a couple of dumpster or rubbish fires. So far for the year, Mid-County has responded to over 1500 calls, more than 600 more than at this time last year.
