It may not seem like a lot but every little bit helps…that’s according to Mid-County Fire Chief Scott Frandsen who says his district is on the receiving end of a “volunteer fire assistance grant” to help improve response to natural cover and other wildfires.
The grants are distributed by the conservation department’s forestry division for up to four-thousand-dollars each and, in the case of the Mid-County District, went toward the purchase of six leaf blowers and some chainsaws. Several area departments are expected to receive grants from the same program. Fire departments receiving the assistance are required to match 50-percent of the funding.
