A report of a possible ebola patient in Mid-Missouri has turned out to be a hoax. That’s according to the Cole County Health Department. Apparently someone called St. Mary’s health center Thursday morning and claimed a person in their home had recently traveled to West Africa and had ebola like symptoms. As a result, Jefferson City activated their incident plan and law enforcement conducted an investigation. It was then determined to be a hoax and authorities say the caller will be dealt with appropriately. Governor Jay Nixon is also visiting the Missouri State Public health laboratory in Jefferson City to discuss the State’s efforts to prepare for public health emergencies, including ebola should an actual case of the virus occur in Missouri.
