Miller County could soon know more about how to fix one of the Lake Area swinging bridges after engineers did an on-site inspection this week.
“We just did a walk through. The engineers looked under it, they looked at the cables and the cable suspension at the ends of the bridge. The inspector spray painted a few areas.”
Miller County Presiding Commissioner Tom Wright.
He tells KRMS News a report that’ll follow the inspection will help to figure out what comes next, including the cost of any future repairs.
“That’s one of the main things I need that report for, because some donors have called already. Everybody wants to know what the total cost of the project is, and we don’t know that. That’s the main job of the engineering firm.”
MoDOT closed the larger of the two swinging bridges (The Grand AuGlaize bridge) in Brumley after a previous inspection found loose cables.
We’ll pass along more details on the story when they become available.
