The third meeting of a series of public meetings to get input into the Miller County hazard mitigation plan is on the calendar for later this month. The Lake of the Ozarks Council of Local Governments will be hosting the meeting in the Eldon R-1 School District’s old gymnasium starting at 4-pm on Thursday, the 26th. Highlighting discussion will be the risks and natural hazards that have had an impact on the county, along with the probability and severity of each identified natural hazard. Over the past 20 years, statewide, there have been 23 natural disaster declarations. The hazard mitigation plan, in Miller County, is designed to be proactive in the case of a disaster with goal of reducing or eliminating the long-term risk to human life and property in the county.
