An area man is headed to prison for DWI and drug charges. According to Miller County Prosecuting Attorney Benjamin Winfrey, Michael Cartner was sentenced to prison on three criminal cases for two counts of felony DWI, one count of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute and one count of unlawful use of drug paraphernalia. DWI becomes a felony offense when a defendant is convicted of two prior instances of drunk driving. Cartner was sentenced to the maximum time possible on each count. He was also sentenced to 6 years in prison on the drug charge and 4 years for unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.
