A Miller County woman accused of killing her baby was back in court on Wednesday for a pre-trial conference. Emily Usnick has been charged with second degree murder, endangering the welfare of a child and abandonment of a corpse in connection with the 2009 death of her infant child. According to probable cause statements, Usnick gave birth in her bathroom, didn’t seek medical attention and the baby died shortly after. Authorities also determined the baby had methamphetamine in her blood and liver. The infant was later found in a plastic bag inside a container locked in the trunk of Usnick’s car during a drug raid at the St. Elizabeth home where she was living. Her trial is scheduled to begin on September 28th at the Miller County Courthouse in Tuscumbia.
