The Lake of the Ozarks is one beautiful place during the fall months as the leaves change color. But it can also be a dangerous time of the year for area residents. That’s because the highest number of traffic accidents involving deer occur in the fall. According to the national highway traffic safety administration, Missouri ranked as the 19th most dangerous state for car accidents where deer are a factor. Officials say there are three reasons for the increase including hunting season, mating season, and because crops are being harvested this time of year. However, there is some good news as the number of traffic accidents involving deer has decreased from 5,600 in 2012 to 5,200 last year.
