Missouri Conservation Commission To Vote On Black Bear Hunting

Local News State News Friday, December 11th, 2020

The Missouri Conservation Commission is expected to vote today (Friday) on a proposal that would allow for the hunting of Black Bears in the state.

If approved, the hunting season could start as early as Fall of 2021, but would remain limited to only Missouri Residents.

Missouri is home to somewhere between 500 to 800 black bears and MDC officials say that’s significantly increased in the past 50 years.

Back in October, the Commission asked for public input in the matter. During that time, more than 2,000 comments were received against the idea, while only around 100 were for it.
