A man convicted of killing a southeast Missouri couple in 1993 is scheduled to be executed just after midnight tonight (wed. 12:01 am). William Rousan would be the sixth man to be executed in Missouri in the past six months. His attorneys are seeking clemency from Governor Nixon and have filed federal appeals citing concerns over the execution drug obtained from a compounding pharmacy saying it could cause the inmate to suffer before dying. Courts have so far allowed executions to move forward, though some dissenting judges have questioned the practice.
