At Lake of the Ozarks, we’re accustomed to a number of boating accidents each season – but statistics released by the U.S. Coast Guard might still be surprising to some. According to data collected over the last year, Missouri ranked 7th in boat accidents in 2017. There were 10 deaths and 86 injuries last year. That ranking could climb even higher this year thanks in part to a triple fatality accident that happened at Lake of the Ozarks and the duck boat accident that killed 17 at Table Rock Lake. The data release comes just two weeks ahead of Labor Day weekend – traditionally one of the busiest boating weekends of the year.
