Voters in more than a dozen Missouri counties have approved local taxes that can be applied to out-of-state purchases. The Missouri Association of Counties says use taxes passed in 13 of 18 counties where it appeared on Tuesday’s ballots — including Camden and Morgan counties. State lawmakers have given final approval to legislation aimed at helping reinstate the local use taxes. Senator Mike Kehoe sponsored the bill:

The new law specifies that a sales tax is to be collected for the titling of the storage, use or consumption of motor vehicles, trailers, boats, or outboard motors. The rate of tax associated with titling will be the sum of state sales tax and the local sales tax rate in effect at the address of the owner of the property.
