The Missouri State Medical Association issues a plea to the governor to enact stricter measures to help curb the spread of the COVID-19 virus. The request sent by association president James DiRenna says a statewide “shelter-in-place” order, by executive action, is the only way to slow the exponential spread of the COVID virus in Missouri. The statement also says, without such an order by the governor’s office, crucial healthcare resources…including manpower…are being wasted. To date, the governor has declined to issue such an order while, at the same time, issuing an order earlier this week for the purchase of more than $17-million worth of personal protective equipment to help medical providers and first responders across the state.
