The second regular session of the 97th general assembly is officially underway. The 2014 legislative session started yesterday and lawmakers remain focused on a myriad of issues including tax reform, the budget, and Medicaid reform. A report has also been released showing Missouri as one of the top ten states for job growth in 2013. Gov. Jay Nixon is pleased with the report and says “by focusing on our priorities…good jobs, quality schools and healthy communities, we’ll continue to build on this strong momentum.” The governor went on to say that he looks forward to continuing to work closely with members of the general assembly to balance the state’s budget and make strategic, responsible economic investments for the state’s future.
