Two siblings accused of murder in Morgan County last February, will not go to trial next week. Garland and Mandy Mitchell were scheduled to go to trial January 27th facing two counts of second degree murder and two counts of armed criminal action in the case of Freddie and Carol Wilson. Their case was unexpectedly transferred to Camden County last Thursday following information gained at a sentence hearing for another defendant in the case. Derrell Spellmeyer originally pleaded guilty to two counts of second degree murder and armed criminal action in the deaths of the Wilson’s. A jury trial is now possible in the case despite Spellmeyer’s guilty plea, but a new jury trial date has not been set for the Mitchell siblings.
