Counties that make up Lake of the Ozarks are likely owed money by the state of Missouri.
That’s the findings of State Auditor Nicole Galloway.
In a new audit of the County Reimbursement program, Galloway found that as of June 30th 2020, the state still owes nearly $31 million dollars to counties statewide.
She says a combination of delayed reimbursements due to lack of state funding, and increasing incarceration costs, have led to the counties state wide having to rely on local resources only.
State law indicates these costs are supposed to be reimbursed by the state.
