Annual roadway striping operations are underway across the state with MoDOT sending out its annual reminder to slow it down when approaching any of the work crews. State Highway Safety and Traffic Engineer Nicole Hood says the striping trains run between 8-12 miles per hour when applying the white and yellow lines, and the equipment is clearly distinguishable by the flashing lights and arrows, and the message boards indicating “slow vehicles” and “wet paint.” The main striping effort focuses on two-lane roadways during the spring and fall with freeways and expressways the main focus of striping in June, July and August. Most of the striping is applied during the daytime hours.
