With the winter storm warning in effect, MoDot is in go-mode to tackle the weather and try to keep the roadways clear. Central District engineer Bob Lynch says they’ll be working around the clock this weekend. They’ve already dropped some beet juice and brine mixture ahead of the anticipated snowfall. When the snow starts, they’ll begin using their salt and chemical mixture. Drivers should make sure you use extra caution, especially around the MoDot trucks and through work zones.
Temperatures should stay at or above freezing, which Lynch says will help them in keeping the roads clear. A mix of rain could also help keep the roads clear when temperatures rise. Drivers are also reminded that you can check road conditions in near-real time by visiting www.traveler.modot.org.
