The pedestrian bridge collapse in Miami, Florida, may have been a local tragedy but the incident will also have a widespread impact on a much larger scale. The collapse has highway and other transportation officials, nationwide, taking a closer look at their own systems. Here in Missouri it’s no different according to MoDOT Area Engineer Bob Lynch. Lynch says the current conditions of bridges, statewide, are always a concern.
Lynch goes onto to say MoDOT inspections also cover a wide variety of other infrastructure and not just bridges. The bottom line, according to Lynch, is funding to make sure the infrastructure are inspected on a regular basis.
