The Missouri Department of Transportation continues to seek a solution to the guardrail system used through the state after officials discovered the approved system to be not up to par. Recently the New York Times mentioned MODOT in an article saying internal department documents blasted the safety of the guardrails state wide. MODOT officials responded by saying “There were design changes made in the product in 2005 that were not reported to the Federal highway administration. There’s an ongoing lawsuit with a whistle blower and the company who manufactured the guardrails, Trinity industries”. The department stopped purchasing the rails and guard heads in late September.
