It’s no secret for motorists who use Highway-54 everyday between Miller and Cole counties. Resurfacing work, for about a 22-mile stretch, continues. However, what may not be known, according to MoDOT Central District Engineer Bob Lynch, is that part of the work in the area between Route-52 and V-Road involves using different mixes of asphalt as part of a Federal highway test project.
Lynch goes on to say that the different mixes of asphalt look the same and really don’t affect the way your vehicle handles on them. Federal highway personnel have been on location keeping a close eye on the project to make sure the asphalt holds up according to standards.
