Like it or not, it’s just a matter of time before Mother Nature starts delivering winter weather and motorists in the Lake Area and statewide will be treated, next week, to a sneak peek of MoDOT salt trucks springing into action. It’s the statewide winter weather drill giving MoDOT a chance to deploy their crews to a simulated forecast of significant snow for the entire state. Emergency communications systems will also be tested as part of the drill which begins sometime after 8:00am here in the lake area and sometime after 9am in the urban areas. The drill takes place November 7th. On average, MoDOT spends about $43-million every year plowing about six-million miles of snow and ice -enough to go to the moon and back 13 times.
