Two employees in the Moniteau County Sheriff’s Department have been fired after posts they made on social media. Sheriff Tony Wheatley, quoted in a story published by the Associated Press, described the posts as inside jokes that he deemed to be deragotory in nature. Wheatley did not detail content of the posts but did say his department will not tolerate such behavior. The posts between jail employee Dillon Davenport and Lieutenant Kevin Morse, reportedly, started as a joke between two employees and the mother of one of the employees. As a result of the behavior, the department will be re-evaluating its policies and procedures.
