Morgan County appears on a list of 26 local government and court offices that were cited as needing to establish more information security controls. The report issued by State Auditor Nicole Galloway’s office included two recommendations based on information collected from Morgan County during 2017. The first recommendation called for passwords to be changed more regularly to prevent unauthorized access to computers and data. And the second recommendation called for data backups to be secured and tested at an off-site location for the purposes of restoring any systems potentially affected by a disaster or other disruptive incident. Other areas of concern examined in the overall report, but were not an issue in Morgan County, included: user access management, security controls, and data management.
