The finishing touches are complete and a new athletic facility for the Stover Bulldogs is officially open. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on November 30th for the recently-completed facility known as the “Stover Dome.” Construction on the project started last September. It consists of over 27,000 square feet with nearly 900 seats, four locker rooms, a weight room, training facility, and indoor track. There’s also a library and four classrooms in the building. In addition to being a state-of-the-art athletic center, the Stover Dome also has another purpose. More than $1.3 million of the overall $4.9 million complex came from FEMA, because the building will also serve as a community safe room in the event of a tornado or other natural disaster or emergency. It’s been constructed to withstand winds of up to 250 mph – the equivalent of an F-5 category tornado.
