Morgan County R-2 Schools Look At Making Changes To South Elementary

School may be out in the Morgan County R-2 District for Christmas Break, but Administrators are busy with a project that could expand Kindergarten programs for the community.

At the most recent school board meeting, Superintendent Steven Barns proposed the idea of turning the South Elementary School building into a strictly pre-school building only…meaning that all Kindergarten through 2^nd Grade classes would be moved into the Main Campus building.

Barns indicated that the change would follow a recommendation from their recent Comprehensive School Improvement Plan.

Over the next few months, officials say they will be working with teachers, administrators, and the school board to develop a logistical plan to implement the change.

If approved, the new program will start in the 2022-2023 school year.
