Officials with the Morgan County R-2 school district are working to make their campuses more safe. Superintendent Dr. Joyce Ryerson says they plan to review policies and changes prior to their next board meeting.
Options being discussed include everything from adding a second school resource officer to expanding scenario training drills to include middle school students. Ryerson says ongoing policy reviews have already led to some noticeable changes.
Ryerson adds that another idea being considered is forming a new program similar to DARE that will foster better relationships between school resource officers and students, allowing for easier identification of any potential problems.
