A petition to formally dissolve the City of Macks Creek has been approved by the County Clerk’s Office and could reach voters as a ballot initiative as early as the August 7 primary. If approved by the voters, the ballot initiative would dissolve the city government and return the city streets to the county. The Macks Creek R-V School District wouldn’t be affected if the initiative passes. If approved, the city would no longer collect its own property tax and sales tax, nor would it receive any County Aid Road Trust (CART) funds, and all city property would default to the county, including city streets.
