NASA Commander And Lake Native Michael Hopkins Is Ready To Fly This Weekend

School of the Osage graduate and Lake Native Mike Hopkins is at the Kennedy Space Station getting set for Saturday’s launch to the International Space Station.

Hopkins tells our news partner KY3 TV the mission’s part of a partnership between NASA and SpaceX.

Hopkins will be the commander of the mission that was postponed last month after the Falcon 9 rocket the four-person crew is set to ride showed mechanical problems during a test.

The crew will stay in the orbiting space station for about 6 months.
