It’s a call you hope you don’t have to make very often – the call to an emergency 9-1-1 center asking for help. But when you do, you expect the call to be handled the right way with accurate information provided to first responders who are coming your way. It’s also the main reason behind all this week being proclaimed as National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week. Osage Beach Communications Supervisor Kwabena Asante says dispatchers everywhere are well-deserving of the recognition.
Asante goes on to say, all too often, multiple 9-1-1 calls are received at the same time making the job even tougher. Later on today, from 4-6pm, Asante and others who work in 9-1-1 centers around the lake will be our special guests on the KRMS Ozarks Today program.
