National Safe Boating Week starts Saturday, with an attempt to set another world record for the most personal flotation devices worn on a single day:
Rachel Johnson with the National Safe Boating Council says 88 percent of the approximately 500 people who died in recreational boating accidents last year were not wearing life jackets. Missouri law requires children under seven to wear a PFD at all times while on board a boat, and the Water Patrol encourages EVERYone to wear one. There were 82 boating accidents in Missouri last year, in which 10 people were killed and 93 injured.
