A Versailles man is hospitalized after what the water patrol describes as a “near drowning” at Lake of the Ozarks. The incident happened Monday afternoon shortly before 4pm at the 9 mile mark of the Gravois Arm in Morgan County. 61-year old Charles C. Dowell of Versailles was in a Ranger bass boat heading upstream when he tripped on a seat in the boat and fell overboard. He was pulled from the water by the driver of the boat and Sgt. C.R. Kicker, but not before suffering serious injuries. Dowell was taken to the Capital Region Medical Center for treatment. The driver of the boat was uninjured.
