A Springfield hotelier with plans for a nearly $100 million dollar Embassy Suites hotel in Osage Beach has a new CEO.
John Q. Hammons Hotels and Resorts is now being led by Jacquie Dowdy, the Executive Vice President of Finance and 30 year employee of the organization.
John Q. Hammons, who is 91, is hospitalized in a Springfield long term care facility with health issues. In addition to the new CEO, Scott Tarwater, the marketing manager, and Steve Minton, vice president of design and development have both been released.
John Q. Hammons Hotels and Resorts currently operates 83 hotels in 25 states, and employs about 9,500 people.
City representatives in Osage Beach are still planning on breaking ground on the new hotel just south of the Grand Glaize Bridge this spring. The project was held up for several years after a suit was filed alleging the TIF the city granted to the hotelier was an abuse of Tax Increment Financing policy.
