We’re learning more about the new Ozarks International Raceway that’s set to open in the summer of 2021 at the Lake of the Ozarks.
JR Pesek is the track owner and promoter.
He tells KRMS News they are expecting racers from across the World to come here, and that led them to believe the track needed to be more than just a racing facility.
Pesek says besides being a 2nd home owner in the Lake area, he knew this region could offer a grand experience to racers.
Pesek says they first were looking at buying a closed racetrack in Iowa, before making the decision to purchase this former turkey farm off highway 135.
He says they’ve persevered as much of the land as possible, tearing down only the trees needed for the racetrack and modifying the turkey buildings to be indoor garages.
Pesek says residents need not worry about traffic issues, as they anticipate building multiple entrances and exits diverting the traffic flow evenly between Route J and Highway 135.
At this time there are no road course racetracks in the mid-west region.
The last road-course racetrack open in Missouri was Mid-America Raceway in Wentzville, which closed in 1985.
Pesek says they plan to work with the community and partner with numerous events, including local track days for amateur racers in the Ozarks.
